Post Ride Thanks and Information
Aug/28/2007
Wow, what an experience. First of all let me apologize
for being so very lazy on my training updates the final
few weeks before the challenge. While I was on vacation
I did not have an internet connection that could upload
the website, and when I got back home I had a very
difficult time at work, so I got way behind. Anyway,
excuses aside the Challenge was this past Sunday August
26th. It was one of the best experiences of my life,
and I can't wait to do it again. I have included at the
bottom of this page links for the map and elevation
profile of the ride. It was a beautiful course, and was
extremely challenging. There was just over 8400 feet of
climbing on this course, and you could feel every last
bit of it! There were over 1700 riders split between
the 40, 70, and 100 mile rides. It was an incredible
sight, riders of every level all coming together to
ride for a great cause.
The ride started off fairly flat, and was an easy start. It had rained the night before, and was misting lightly for the first few miles. The ride picked up pace quickly around 20 miles, a lot of downhill and a very fast stretch. There were 9 pit stops for refilling water and food, and each of them had it's own special setup. The second one had colonial musicians, dressed up as revolutionary war soldiers and playing drums and flutes. Another stop had a full band. There were cheering stations staggered through the course, and a lot of people had set up cheering stations in their front yards. It was truly a GREAT experience! I have added a photo album from the Challenge, it is called the Livestrong Challenge Photos section.
I want to thank everybody who supported me, I really appreciate it. Your support means a lot to me, and the Livestrong organization. I especially want to thank my wife Kelly, who believed in me and supported me even I was unsure of myself.

The Livestrong Century Ride
Jul/01/2007
I recently decided to participate in the annual
Livestrong Challenge Century ride. I am a strong
believer in the Lance Armstrong Foundation and what
they stand for, and fully support it. I have been an
avid bike rider for years, and have commuted to work
for the past 2 years regardless of weather, (see snow
bike) I will be riding the Livestrong Century ride on
August 26th. I will be documenting my training for this
event by submitting daily entries into the training
blog, which can be accessed from this page.
We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, either directly or indirectly. The Lance Armstrong Foundation seeks donations to help those affected by cancer. The most important thing I think the Lance Armstrong Foundation does is support and promote cancer research, and clinical trials. In my opinion clinical trials are our best shot at helping those who need help the most. I personally have benefited from experimental treatment, so of course I am a little biased!
